How to register

All entries must be made by the test centre administering the MAT.

  • Candidates currently attending a school or college: ask your Exams Officer if your school can administer the MAT for you.
  • Candidates not attending a school or college: you will need to find a centre where you can sit the test. Find a centre.

How much does the MAT cost to enter?

The Admissions Testing Service does not charge for the MAT, but some centres charge an administration fee – check with your centre.

Registration deadline

Wednesday 15 October 2014: Last date for MAT entries.
Entries will be accepted until 17.00 BST. Entries cannot be withdrawn after this date.

Information for candidates

You cannot register yourself for the MAT – you must be registered by a MAT centre.

  • If you currently attend a school or college, ask your Exams Officer if your school can administer the test for you. If your school or college is not already registered as a test centre, it is quick and easy to become a test centre.
  • If you don’t currently attend a school or college, you will need to find an open centre where you can sit the test. Find an open centre.

Open centres are authorised to run tests for all candidates, including those who are not enrolled as students at the school or college.

Information for Exams Officers

All candidates need to be entered for the MAT by their centre via the Entries Extranet. Test centres can use this secure website to register, view, modify and withdraw candidate entries.
