Admissions Testing Service
Administering our tests
In partnership with the University of Oxford
The Admissions Testing Service is working with the University of Oxford to assist in the administration of its Oriental Languages Aptitude Test (OLAT).
The OLAT is a paper-based test. It is a 30-minute admissions test for applicants to certain undergraduate degrees in Oriental Studies and its joint schools at the University of Oxford.
The test is designed to assess a candidate’s ability to analyse how languages work, in a way which does not depend on their knowledge of any particular language.
The University of Oxford’s Faculty of Oriental Studies is responsible for the setting and development of the OLAT, including the test format and scoring. For general information about the test, see the University of Oxford’s Faculty of Oriental Studies website.
The OLAT takes place on 2 November 2016 at 09.00 GMT. The scheduled start times for international centres will vary, depending upon where they are in the world. Most candidates will sit the OLAT at their own school or college. Other candidates can find a centre.
Test results are not published automatically, but candidates may request their test score as part of the usual University of Oxford feedback process.
