The Certificate in EMI Skills is designed for use by Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) as part of their teaching development programmes. The course helps HEIs to deliver courses successfully in English. It helps improve teaching quality and supports internationalisation.
The course is for higher education teaching staff whose first language is not English. It improves their English language proficiency, develops their awareness of students’ language issues and explores different methodological approaches to instruction in a foreign language.
The course is suitable for academic staff with English skills at Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) Level B1 and above.
By the end of the 40-hour online course, participants will:
Participants use content from a range of academic disciplines to learn the language they need to teach with confidence. The eight modules have a practical, communicative focus and can be completed in any order. Each module is also available separately.

Module 3 – Language for small groups and practical sessions
Module 4 – Language for tutorials and supervision
Module 5 – Language for university, faculty and student life
Module 6 – Language for online teaching
Module 7 – Language for testing and evaluation

The Certificate in EMI Skills course can only be bought for groups of academic staff and is part of Cambridge English Language Assessment's teacher development programmes for governments and employers.
