Administering our tests
The Cambridge Personal Styles Questionnaire® (CPSQ) supports values based recruitment for healthcare education and employment. It can be used to determine whether an applicant’s values and behaviours align with the values of the NHS and to identify areas for development.

CPSQ helps you to formally assess values in a standardised, objective and reliable way that is fair to all applicants.
Results are reported against seven healthcare-related competencies, which are aligned with the values of the NHS Constitution.
CPSQ was developed through a four-year trial with healthcare organisations.
It uses an innovative rating and ranking format, which is almost twice as accurate as traditional, single statement personality assessments* in predicting academic or occupational performance.
Triangulating CPSQ results with other parts of the recruitment process helps you to build a broader picture of your applicants.
We provide training and support to help you use CPSQ in a way that reinforces your existing selection processes.
CPSQ is developed by education experts. We have extensive experience working in the healthcare sector and are the producers of the BioMedical Admissions Test (BMAT) and the Occupational English Test (OET).

CPSQ is an online questionnaire. The questions are designed to be suitable for entry-level respondents with no previous healthcare experience.
The questionnaire contains 164 short statements in sets of four, with rating options. Respondents who select the same level of agreement for two or more of the statements are then asked to choose which statement is ‘more like me’ / ‘less like me’
The questionnaire is typically completed in 20-30 minutes for native English speakers and in up to 60 minutes for non-native speakers.
The 1-page competency-based report for each respondent has the following features:
Group reporting is also available to help selectors quickly compare individual applicants.
